"Joram van Klaveren, also called ‘the crown prince of Wilders’, was a famous critic of Islam. As a former member of the Dutch Parliament and a representative of the Party for Freedom, he submitted numerous bills related to Islam, such as those calling for the closing of mosques, for removing the Quran from parliament and for banning Islam from the Netherlands.

In order to reinforce these thoughts and opinions, he — as a Christian — began to write a book critical of Islam. During the process of writing, however, he found an increasing number of matters that challenged his views of Islam. In this book, Joram describes his personal and theological journey and the development he has undergone.

This is my translation from Dutch into Arabic of an article on reading among the Arabs by Maurits Bircher, the Dutch Arabist and Islamologist. He begins this article by saying: "My experiences with culture, especially the culture of reading in the Middle East, do not apply to what you say about this. Statistics figures. In a total of 22 Arab countries, and if the book has sold more than five thousand copies in the Arab world, which has an estimated population of 270 million people, it is considered a bestseller. As for the translation of foreign books and foreign literature, the matter is dismal and sad, as it was stated in that report that the total number of translated books in the Arab world during the last ten centuries is equivalent to the number of translations published annually in Spain alone..."
